After starting dinghy sailing at the age of 7, Tom quickly took to the sport and throughout his younger years gained experience in dinghy racing and cruising on the family boat. By mid teens he was competing in small and mid sized keel boats in local and national competitions. Whilst at university Tom competed in numerous sailing events in the UK, including winning his class in the 2009 Fastnet race. Post university he was selected to sail around the world as one of the qualified Yachtmasters on the 11-12 Clipper Round The World Race. This led to him skippering the boats on their return before taking over the running of the UK based Clipper 68 fleet. He has continued his racing career recently being selected to represent GB in the Commodores Cup and sailing in the highly competitive Swan 45 fleet.
